Jane Wingard, President and Artistic Director -- Jane, a 4 time WATCH Award winner for set painting and design, is a retired PG teacher of Art and Theatre, who traded in the classroom for a scenic studio in 1997. She has designed and painted for major events throughout the DC area as well as casinos in Charlestown Racetrack, WVa and Harrington, Delaware and Six Flags America. For the last 14 years, 2nd Star has commanded her full attention.
Joanne Wilson, 1st Vice President -- Joanne is 2nd Star’s resident stage manager and properties mistress. She most recently appeared on stage at 2nd Star as Nachum the Beggar in Fiddler, Granny in Into the Woods, Mrs. Dexter in The Man Who Came To Dinner, the Pearly Queen in Me and My Girl, and a cop in Guys and Dolls. She started her theatre life as a tap dancer and has appeared in many musicals. Joanne was honored to receive two 2012 Watch nominations for Outstanding Properties in a Musical and a Play for Fiddler on the Roof and The Lion in Winter. After being nominated for both of our musicals in 2013, Joanne won the 2013 WATCH Award for Outstanding Properties in a Musical for Camelot.
Nathan Bowen, 2nd Vice President -- Nathan works for the State of Maryland as a supervising budget examiner at the Department of Budget and Management, but in the evenings stretches the right part of his brain by performing in community theater and other involvement in the arts. You might have seen him on stage at 2nd Star as Cornelius in Hello, Dolly!, Seymour in Little Shop, Sir Dinidan in Camelot, Will in Oklahoma!, Sandy Dean in Brigadoon, Hero in Forum, and Samuel in Pirates of Penzance. He has also performed locally at the Colonial Players of Annapolis and Annapolis Summer Garden Theater. He lives in Annapolis with his cat/best pal, Oscar.
Emily Mudd, Secretary -- Emily is a graduate of The College of William and Mary in Virginia where she studied English and Music. She works as a librarian with Calvert Library. Emily was most recently seen on the stage of the Bowie Playhouse as Guenevere in 2nd Star’s production of Camelot. Other favorite roles include Laurey in 2nd Star Production’s OKLAHOMA!, Rapunzel in Into the Woods with Red Branch Theatre in Columbia, Emma Carew in Jekyll & Hyde and Anne Lindbergh in the award winning Hauptmann with Colonial Players in Annapolis, Luisa in the Fantasticks with the Twin Beach Players in North Beach, and Cinderella in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella both in college and with the Twin Beach Players. Emily and her husband Nick reside in Riva with their two cats.
Martin Hayes, Treasurer -- Martin is a former engineer and IT professional who enjoys spending his evenings involved in community theater and constructing model boats. Of the more than 70 shows he has appeared in, some of his favorites have been Noises Off, Funny Money, Camelot, You Can't Take it With You, Nuts, Once Upon a Mattress, and Bus Stop. He also serves as President of the Maryland Attack Group, a local model boat club, Vice President and webmaster of the International R/C Warship Combat Club (IRCWCC), and is a member of The Great Schooner Model Society.
Joe Biddle, Executive Director -- Joe has music directed all over the Baltimore area but has had the pleasure of being associated with 2nd Star for the past 4 years. He has music directed productions of Pippin, Camelot, Secret Garden, Oklahoma and Little Shop of Horrors with 2nd Star, along with other productions at the Greenbelt Arts Center, Prince George's Little Theatre, Liberty Showcase Theatre, and Cockpit in Court among others. He has appeared on stage with Liberty, Heritage Players, Matthew Players, and Miracle Players as well as 2nd Star. During the day he is the IT Director a Baltimore investment firm. He lives in Edgewater with his princess bride, Nora, and 3 cats and a dog.
